Happy Hanukkah!!! ~ Hanukkah Story Book Reviews!

Happy Hanukkah!!! Today I'm posting on two of my favorite Hanukkah story books. :)

This one is probably my favorite! I love how it connects the story of Hanukkah to our daily lives. It not only tells the story of Hanukkah, it also talks about how we can be set apart for Yeshua in today's world.

This one is pretty discriptive, and does a great job of telling the story of Hanukkah!

Both of these do a wonderful job of immersing you in the story of Hanukkah, and showing what it might have been like to be a Maccabee.

Happy Hanukkah!

Judah's Wife: A Novel of the Maccabees by Angela Hunt ~ Book Review

Synopsis

Seeking peace and safety after a hard childhood, Leah marries Judah, a strong and gentle man, and for the first time in her life Leah believes she can rest easily. But the land is ruled by Antiochus IV, descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals, and when he issues a decree that all Jews are to conform to Syrian laws upon pain of death, devout Jews risk everything to follow the law of Moses.

Judah's father resists the decree, igniting a war that will cost him his life. But before dying, he commands his son to pick up his sword and continue the fight--or bear the responsibility for the obliteration of the land of Judah. Leah, who wants nothing but peace, struggles with her husband's decision--what kind of God would destroy the peace she has sought for so long?

The miraculous story of the courageous Maccabees is told through the eyes of Judah's wife, who learns that love requires courage...and sacrifice.

Review

I picked this book up because I am fascinated by the Maccabees. It's so amazing how devoted the Maccabees were to Adonai, in a world full of paganism.

The characters were very complex. My favorite was Judah. He was humble, and strived to follow Adonai always. When he made a mistake, he was willing to admit he was wrong, and willing to ask for forgiveness.

This book is not for kids under 15. The period of history the Maccabees lived in was a violent, gruesome time. However, what I liked about this book is that the author didn't portray evil as good, and she didn't focus on or glorify the evil. Nothing was overly graphic.

This book was well researched and well written. It shows the fight to keep Adonai's ways, and to stay pure and set apart for Him. It shows the cost for standing up for what the Bible says is right.

The Maccabees story is one of struggles, triumphs, sorrows, and miracles. It shows how God fights for us. 4.5 stars!

Snowflakes

Snowflakes are so beautiful. Have you ever caught some in your hand? Each one is unique and different. They each have their own shape, size, and design.

People are a lot like snowflakes. Each of us is uniquely different. God didn't create us all to be alike one another. He created us all different- unique.
It seems like many people feel the need to "fit in", to be "alike one another." The truth is, we aren't meant to be the same. God created us to be unique and different.

Just like snowflakes, treasure people for who they are- in their own unique way.

"I praise You, for I am awesomely, wonderfully made! Wonderful are Your works--and my soul knows that very well. Psalm 139:14 (TLV)

Warriors of the King by K. Dennis Chambers ~ Book Review

Synopsis

Alaric doesn't let anyone tell him how to live his dangerous life spent robbing the rich barons and wicked spires who inhabit his medieval world. One day, deep in the forest trails, he encounters a soldier of the King. Far from robbing this formidable knight, Alaric is persuaded to visit the King's castle and discover for himself what a meaningful life looks like.

This new life that unfolds in front of him is filled with adventures, sword fights on flat prairies and steep mountains against powerful enemies, new friends, and even a girl whose smile lingers on his mind.

Review

This book was so good! I loved the characters, the allegories, and the faith content! The way the King was described was beautiful! Jesus was so interwoven throughout it. This book shows multiple people's spiritual journeys. One accepted the King at a young age, another lived as a robber until he met a soldier of the King, another was searching for the Truth and found it in the King. I appreciated how each character's specific gifts came out in the book; such as someone who loves to study: they helped translate and make copies of the King's Book. My favorite character was Akara- a woman soldier in the King's army. She loves horses, and loves her King.

Another thing that was really cool was how important it is to read the King's Book and how that helps you in various aspects of life- especially sword fighting. This book shows the spiritual side of life- specifically spiritual warfare. The author incorporated biblical concepts throughout the entire book.
I highly recommend this book!!! If you loved Pilgrim's Progress, you're sure to love this book!

"Your shield of faith is getting brighter than the day the King issued it to you... Unlike earthly shields, which dull with hard use, the King's shield warms and glows brighter with use. It is a shield of faith, your single greatest protection against the evil forces of this world..." - Warriors of the King

Horses and Friends by Miralee Ferrell ~ Book Review

Synopsis

Note: This is the synopsis for Book 1. There are six books in the series so far. Don't forget to check out the other novels, too! :)

A horse of her own would be awesome. But Kate figures that might be a long way away, especially since she had to give up riding lessons and move to her late grandfather's farm. Besides, it would be a lot more fun to have a best friend to ride with. When Kate discovers a barn on their new farm that's perfect for a horse, and a dusty bridle too, she starts to think that her dream might come true. Then she meets Tori at school, who is totally the best. So when they discover a thoroughbred that appears to be all alone, could it be the answer to her prayers? Maybe. If she can convince her dad...and figure out what's going on with that horse.

Review

This is a review of all six books.

This was a fun series! It's probably one of my favorite horse-related fiction series I've found. The characters are so different, and yet work so well together--(although they still disagree.). ;) My favorite characters are Tori and Pete. Pete is Kate's little autistic brother. I loved how the author added that element into the novels!

I really liked how the characters' relationship with God were interwoven throughout the entire series. The characters struggled, had joys and triumphs and it was cool to watch them get through it all. Two of my favorite aspects of this series are the horses and the mysteries. The mysteries are fascinating, and not overly gross or creepy. They're just great mysteries 13-year-old kids are solving. :)

These are great novels for anyone who loves horses, friendships, and mysteries.

National Collection Week - OCC ~ Show His Love

Today, I have something special for you all! This upcoming week, (November 18-25th), is National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child. My family and I have packed boxes for years; and have always enjoyed it immensely!
My sister has really taken off with creating things for little kids. Last year, in the fall of 2018, I wrote this story for her. My sister creates absolutely beautiful and amazing items for so many little children. She is the one who gave me the inspiration to write this story. :)

Show His Love

Excited, squealing kids swarmed around us and the yaks that carried the OCC shoeboxes. We began opening and passing out individual boxes and placing them in the children's waiting arms. As I looked past the sea of smiling faces, I saw a little girl, about three years old, peeking out from behind a tree. She was watching the commotion with wide, dark eyes. She looked like she wanted a box, but was hesitant to come near the excited jumble of kids.

I searched through the pile of boxes on the ground, grabbed a box from the girls' 2-4 section, removed the tape, and walked toward the little girl. She crept from behind the tree, and moved in front of it and sat down. She watched me, hungrily looking at the box.

Just looking at the small girl brought a soft smile to my face. I sat down next to her, and gently handed her the box.

She made a small noise of excitement, and opened the box. She spotted a doll, wrapped up in a fuzzy, adorable, turquoise and multi-colored blanket. A joyful squeal erupted from the little girl. Gently, but excitedly, she lifted out the doll. She stared at the baby doll,  then placed it in her arms and held it close, a happy smile on her face.

After holding the doll for several moments, she then continued to unwrap the other contents of the box, excitement still evident on her face. The items included: a toothbrush, a washcloth, soap, a puzzle, and a beautiful headband; not to mention other things. She loved it all; although her favorite item was definitely the doll. She held the doll like she would never let go. After a few moments, she looked up at me, smiled, and whispered, "Thank you".

This was what it meant to show the love of Jesus. I had never seen it expressed in such a way before. I loved handing out the shoeboxes, gazing into those beautiful eyes; watching them light up as they open their box. It fills you with a joy that cannot be expressed in words. I would not give up this experience for the world.

~~~
So, go pack a shoebox! Make a child's day; or you may even change their life! If you want to hear more, go to their website. :)
The Prophetess by Jill Eileen Smith ~ Book Review
Synopsis
Outspoken and fearless, Deborah has faith in God but struggles to see the potential her own life holds. As an Israelite woman, she'll marry, have a family, and seek to teach her children about Adonai--and those tasks seem to be more than enough to occupy her time. But God has another plan for her. Israel has been under the near constant terror of Canaan's armies for twenty years, and now God has called Deborah to deliver her people from this oppression. Will her family understand? Will her people even believe God's calling on her life? And can the menace of Canaan be stopped?
Synopsis
This was a fascinating novel about Deborah! Deborah has always been a favorite Bible character of mine, and although I've read a few novelizations of her story, this one is definitely the best one I've read so far!
This book focuses on Deborah's life and Barak's life. Barak is the leader of Israel's armies. I really liked how the author portrayed Deborah- strong, and as mother to all of Israel. The way that Deborah and Barak's relationship was played out was amazing. Barak knew and understood that Deborah heard from God- and that's why he wanted Deborah to come with him to battle. I also appreciated how Lappidoth (Deborah's husband) supported her and how he wasn't threatened by her position. He was instrumental in how people viewed Deborah as a prophetess and in showing the people that she was truly appointed by God. The people had a lot of respect for her as a result. He helped her learn to read, and taught her Adonai's laws. Back in the days of the Judges, most women didn't know how to read. Although we don't know for sure if Deborah's husband taught her to read, it is an interesting thought.
This book is an amazing portrayal of Deborah and Barak's story. It is still fiction, so don't take every word for fact. But it is a wonderful example of Who God is and how He gives His people chance, after chance.
Synopsis
Dromiskin, Ireland. 925 A.D.
It soon becomes clear that she and Willem are to become bait in a trap set for Kevin, and Eira knows she must try to warn him. But how, when she herself is a captive?
As mysteries of the past are unveiled, and loyalties are revealed, Eira realizes how precious her friends truly are. And when mortal danger threatens those nearest to her, will she be able to trust God with the lives of her friends and family?
Review
This was a great book! I really enjoy the way Jesseca writes!
The characters were amazing! Eira, Casimir, Willem, Kevin, and Stace- just to name a few. :)
I liked how Eira learned to use the sword, and was actually really good at it. It added a nice twist to the story. The suspense and twists in the storyline kept me guessing. It was fascinating to read more about Dromiskin, Ireland.
I really appreciated the faith theme: dealing with jealousy. If it is left alone to fester in your soul, it can lead to destruction. The Silent Blade was well researched and well written!
Favorite quote: "Jealousy is like a sword, a silent blade that comes into our life and wrenches from us any good that may have been there before. And without Jesus' help it will never stop..."
RPM by Chris Fabry ~ Book Review
Synopsis
Tim Carhardt is drifting through life with one goal: survival. Jamie Maxwell believes she can become--no, "will" become--the first female winner of the Cup. But life isn't always as easy as it seems. What happens when dreams and faith hit the wall? You don't want to miss a second of the action. These fast-paced books will keep even reluctant readers on the edge of their seats. Go behind the scenes of America's most-watched sport to see what it's like inside a 200-mph racecar as engines rev and lives collide.
Review
I never thought I would like a NASCAR series so well! ;) My brothers really enjoy watching it, but it's never been my favorite thing ever.
For me, I enjoyed getting into the minds of the drivers. It was fascinating to get to hear more about how they interact, and what drives them to compete.
My favorite characters were Jamie, Tim, and the Maxwell family. They all had their strengths and weaknesses, but were amazing characters. Butch and Chad- I couldn't stand them. (Read the books and you'll understand...)
This series deals with the good and the bad when it comes to racing. It deals with it in a good way; and shows that keeping your standards and morals are more important than winning. Although winning is great, too! However, being an honest, fair, driver, is more important than winning the Cup.
These books are fast paced, full of adventure, and interesting!
King by R. J. Larson ~ Book Review
Synopsis
Akabe of Siphra, I have brought your enemies low and lifted you from the dirt.
Against his wishes and desires, Akabe Garric has been chosen by his people to be king. A warrior at heart, he'd never dreamed of such a swift, unexpected rise to power. Determined to prove his worth to the citizens of Munra and honor his Creator, Akabe undertakes a monumental task: to rebuild the Infinite's Holy House in Siphra.
Only this I ask: Restore My temple and let Me dwell again among the people.
Akabe soon discovers that the land he needs is held by the Thaenfalls, known Atea-worshipers who will give up their claim only if he marries into their line. Though he seeks direction from the Infinite, his pleas are met with silence. Frustrated, Akabe makes an impulsive decision, sweeping his nation into a lethal storm that threatens his plan for the temple. As questions of love and faith become tangled with lies, ancient feuds, and treacherous plots, can Akabe, his mysterious queen, and his trusted friends Ela and Kien Lantec find the Infinite's path...or will they fail as so many others before?
Will your faith hold strong when I am silent? Child, can you be My king?
Review
This book was so good! I have read many of R. J. Larson's books, and they never cease to amaze me! :) The thing I love the most about her books, is that there is always so many beautiful truths about Who God is.
The Infinite is my favorite character. The Infinite is the one true God who talks to His people who will listen to Him. It was stunning to see how much the Infinite is like God and how much He loves everyone, even the nasty characters.
The characters made mistakes. However, it wasn't a hopeless book. The Infinite saw them through it all, and loved them even when they messed up. There was a nice balance between forgiveness and yet still facing the consequences for their sins.
As usual, my favorite characters were Ela, Kien, and of course, Pet/Scythe- the destroyer. ;) (Destroyers are huge war horses with big personalities.)
I liked how even though Akabe made mistakes, he asked the Infinite for forgiveness. He reminded me of David in the Bible.
If you look closely, multiple of the things that happened in this series are similar to what happened in the Old Testament.
This series portrays God so well- it's absolutely beautiful!
The Books of the Infinite series is absolutely incredible! I would recommend them to anyone! :)
Forgiveness
I think we all at one point in our lives, struggle to forgive. We struggle to let go of the pain and hurt people has inflicted on us. We often want to stay angry, and not forgive.
Do you know how ugly that can get? When we leave those wounds to fester in our souls, it slowly eats away at us, and it's painful, and unhealthy. We think it will hurt the other person, but really, staying in un-forgiveness only hurts us- and Yahweh.
Yahweh doesn't want us to sit in un-forgiveness. He wants us to give Him the pain, give Him the sorrow, give Him everything. He wants us to forgive, and to move on from the devastating experiences in our lives.
Does forgiveness mean we don't feel anymore? No way! To be fully healed, we need to forgive, and let Yahweh heal our hearts. And yet not close off our hearts to others, just because we are afraid we will be hurt again. I did this. After being hurt too many times by people, I chose to close off my heart to any new friendships and other relationships. It took me awhile, and I'm still figuring it out, but I can't blame everyone for the actions of a few people. I need to let go of the pain, and I need to forgive.
We can't forget to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes, too. Forgiving ourselves can be one of the hardest things to do. But in order to truly move forward, we need to forgive everyone- including ourselves. We all have made mistakes. We need to learn from those mistakes, let go, forgive, and move on.
Forgiveness is a process. Often it's a long, gruesome, and painful process. On our own we can't forgive. But with Yeshua's help, we can forgive. He gave His life, so that we could forgive and be forgiven.
So let it go. Ask Yeshua to help you to forgive. He will.
The Bible is full of verses on forgiveness. Here are just two, but don't forget to dig into His Word and discover for yourself! :)
"...bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." Colossians 3:13
"...and whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." Mark 11:25
Praying this post encourages you... <3 Seek Yeshua.
Review
Wow. This book was incredible! I think every woman- young or old- need to read this book. The truths in it are so crucial, and so important for all of us to know. It's a book about learning to become the woman God created you to be. Kim writes in a beautiful, simple way that is easy to understand- and she doesn't shy away from the hard topics. I also loved how she talked about the warrior side of women- many people don't talk about this. If your a lady, you need to read this book! :)
A favorite quote: "You were not created to be a princess of entitlement but a warrior, fighting to bring love and hope to the world." - Kim Meeder
"Thirteen Reasons Why" Blog Tour ~ Beloved Book Review
Behind the name, "Thirteen Reasons Why":
13 Reasons Why is a Netflix TV series centered around a young girl's suicide. There's debate about whether it promotes suicide or simply raises awareness, but the undeniable fact is that this show has persuaded others to take their own lives. Each episode explains a reason for the girl's suicide- 13 episodes, 13 reasons. Since both Freedom and Beloved deal with the topic of suicide, we decided to name our blog tour the 13 Reasons Why tour- but each day, we are giving reasons to choose life. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, loved beyond measure by our Creator. And that makes every day worth living.
Synopsis
Life without love is hopeless.
Foster teen Cara Richards is unloved. With nothing left and nowhere to go, she is determined to find peace, no matter the cost. But despite her intentions, she's tossed into another foster family and this time, there's no going back to who she used to be. To make matters worse, one of her five new foster brothers is a Jesus freak, and she refuses to believe that God actually cares.
Her world is thrown upside down in a way she never expects. Though she prides herself on a resilient heart, her mind is lost adrift among a sea of questions: Is death really the answer? Does God care about someone as unworthy as me? Can everyone truly be loved, no matter what?
Review
This book follows about a years-worth of Cara's life. It was pretty cool to watch her be transformed from rejected, forgotten, and wounded by so many people, to an amazing young woman. So many people, especially teens, need to hear this message.
I really appreciated the way the forgiveness theme was done. It showed how hard it is to forgive, instead of just, "oh, I forgive you, and now life is just amazing." No, this book shows the pain, the wrestling, and the struggle to forgive. And yet, it shows that with God's help, you can forgive.
Now, on to the characters. I didn't connect with Cara at all, which could be because for a good portion of the book she was so cold, closed off, and full of self-pity. However, I loved the brothers! Peter, Erich, Titus, Fergus, and Eddie. The banter, fun, encouragement, and confrontations were all well done!
Due to the topics discussed, I would not recommend this book for anyone younger than 14.
#R2L: And always remember- no matter what has happened, no matter what has been done to you- You are PRICELESS. You are loved by the Creator of the universe.
Favorite quotes: “We’re human. Of course we’re not always going to feel loved. But
that doesn’t change the fact that we are."
“You are beloved, Cara; your name says it all.”
~Also, why I liked this novel is not specifically because it talks about suicide. (Although that is a topic that needs to be addressed.) I liked it because it shows that everyone is priceless, and cherished in Yahweh's eyes.~
*I received an e-copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.*
About the author:
Kaitlyn is a farmer's daughter and a born-again believer in Christ with an obsession for books and music. It is these obsessions that led her to write her own stories. Psalm 46:10 gives her inspiration, her brothers make her laugh, and there's nothing quite like the excitement of opening an unread book for the first time. Her passion is to share the steadfast love of her Savior through the writing that takes up much of her free time, whether actual writing takes place or writer's block, in which case she's probably browsing Pinterest.
And, there's a giveaway!!!
Synopsis
Having just returned to American soil from the desert sands of the Middle East, James Greene is done with his life. "Double amputee' doesn't seem like a strong enough phrase to label the physical and emotional pain he bears. Add the lack of love and communication with his family members, the demons that haunt him day and night, and he can find nothing worth living for. Ending it all is the only way out.
Alexandria Lorance is a not-so-ordinary physical therapist, content with aiding in her patients' recoveries. Her work gives her fulfillment, but alone in the silence, she still endures the hidden scars of a past, unhealthy relationship. Reminding herself that true healing is found in Christ alone, she seeks to show kindness and love to everyone she meets.
When these two broken ones' paths intersect, the spark of friendship is ignited, bringing hope and joy to both. Can they step out of the darkness of suffering and into the freedom of grace?
Review
Wow. This book was amazing! The struggles and the triumphs in this book played out beautifully!
I really liked how PTSD was explained. Many people don't talk about it, or shy away from explaining it. I really appreciated that it was talked about in this novel. I also really enjoyed the physical therapy aspect in it!
Alex, James, Uncle Joe and Aunt Gloria, not to mention Lester, Brian, and Callie, were such great characters! I really connected with Alex and James- especially Alex. I loved Alex's tender heart towards the hurting. Alex and I are actually a lot alike. :)
I really appreciated how both Alex and James looked at who each other were on the inside, and not on the outside. They weren't obsessed with outward appearances. It was so sweet how Alex loved James through it all.
The banter and teasing between the characters was hilarious, and added some lightness to some of the chapters.
I really liked how they turned to God with their problems first instead of to each other.
Due to the topics discussed, I would not recommend this book for anyone under 14.
And now for a few favorite quotes. ;)
Favorite quotes:
“But I know Someone who does understand what you’re going through,
Corporal. He’s been where you are, and He feels your hurt, because you’re His
child. He’ll sustain you and go with you through every trial of life, if you’ll only
let Him in. He’s my Savior, and His name is Jesus Christ.”
It’s not the absence of trouble, trials, or hurt. It’s the
Presence that remains with me no matter what comes."
“But in my search for
purpose, I found Someone greater than all my troubles, pain, and fears. I found
hope, a steadfast anchor in the turbulent sea of life.”
~Also, why I liked this novel is not specifically because it talks about suicide. (Although that is a topic that needs to be addressed.) I liked it because it shows that everyone is priceless, and cherished in Yahweh's eyes.~
*I received an e-copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.*
"The Torch Keepers" ~ Release Celebration! ~ Author Interview
Hello! Today I have a special treat for you all! Hosanna Emily, author of The Torch Keepers, is joining us today with an author interview! The Torch Keepers releases TOMORROW!!!
~~~

Hi Hosanna! Welcome to my blog!

Hey Molly! Thank you so much for interviewing me; you picked great questions, and it’s a huge blessing getting to share here. ♥

1. What is the most important thing God taught you while writing The Torch Keepers?

He can.

When this story was a tiny idea, God did everything. He took the little flame of a dream and inspired a whole book. When I ran out of ideas and went to His Word, He spoke. When editing got long and publishing got stressful, He provided as soon as I stopped and went to Him for help.

God wants to be the entirety of our lives! And through writing The Torch Keepers, He showed me how He provides; He can do everything. We just have to let go and let Him take us away.

2. What is the main thing you want people to take away from your book?

I want readers to know that no matter what, they are loved and sought after. That the King has a purpose for every single life. Which ties into the next question…

3. What inspired you to write The Torch Keepers?

This story started way before I even thought of writing it down. Years ago, I read an article about two beautiful, teenage girls who left their homes to become terrorists in a foreign country.

I was shocked, wondering how someone so full of life, talents, a future, could leave everything to live such a dark life. To do something so horrible. It hurt as I gazed into the girls’ faces. I wanted to grab them, stop them from those decisions.

But I couldn’t. So I kept living in my own world, so far away from theirs.

Until God had me write their story. In a school assignment, I penned a short story that mirrored the girls’ lives. I wrote about someone who chose to leave their pure life to do terrible things. I never meant to write a story off that article I read so long ago—God simply gave me a story.

That’s why the story has so much purpose: God used me to write the book I wish those girls could have read. That they are loved. They have a purpose. They are valued and treasured, no matter what mistakes they made. The King is there searching for them.

4. What is your favorite book of the Bible?

Ohh, hard question! I would choose either Psalm (because what beautiful, heartfelt poetry!) or 1st John (that heart for Love the author had! It inspires me so much.)

5. How has your relationship with God grown over your years of writing?

Wow. Where would I start?

Every story has revealed a little more of Jesus to me. The Torch Keepers taught me to trust Jesus more fully, and it also helped me discover the powerful, overwhelming love that He has for His children. Thus, specifically in this newest novel, the way I’ve grown is by getting to know Him more closely.

Maybe that’s what all Christians discover after seeking Jesus over the years: there’s still more of Him to learn, find, be enamored and overwhelmed with. ♥

6. Which character is your favorite, and which one best fits your personality?

ALL OF THEM.

*cough* Okay, so this question is way too hard. Every single character is so special to me, and they all have little pieces of my heart in their stories.

But if I HAD to pick one…

Rekém is a favorite. He struggles a lot, and many readers are going to see him as some dark, horrible villain. But I really like this guy. He is searching, like so many of us are. And behind the hard, hurt shell he hides behind, there’s a heart for peace. So yeah. =)

And a character that’s like me? I suppose it would be my other main character, Kadira. Honestly she makes mistakes, forgets how loved she is. Kadira lives radically for what she believes in, and usually makes the wrong decision. But, in the end, she remembers where she came from. And that she is so treasured.

We’re similar in that we both want to live hard-core for what we believe in. We also sometimes lose sight of what’s important. Yet the King always draws us back to His heart. ♥

7. What is the theme song for The Torch Keepers?

Oh no… Every character in The Torch Keepers has a theme song, but somehow I forgot to choose one for the book itself? So I guess I’ll have to go with one of Kadira’s soundtracks,“Nuvole Bianche” by Ludovico Einaudi or another character’s, called “Time (Inception)” by Hans Zimmer. (epic soundtracks are so much fun!)

8. What is your favorite Bible verse?

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13

“The LORD your God is in your midst; the Mighty One will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17

Because He does love. He does treasure you. And if you search for Him, He will be found and be your Best Friend.

Amazing answers, Hosanna! Thank you for allowing me to interview you! :)

The celebration is still going! Don't forget to check out Hosanna's blog, and hear about the amazing characters! :)

focus on the Savior- not the storm

Life brings us all storms. Some storms can be literal tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., but others are physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental storms.
Storms can be so hard. They can be cruel, horrible, and devastating. And they can feel as if you will never get out. In the storm, do you cry, "why me?" Or do you focus on Yeshua, and not on the storm?

Matthew 14:22-33 says, "Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid."

And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."'

How many times have we, like Peter, focused on the storm, instead of on Yeshua? Yeshua saved Peter, even though he doubted, but Yeshua did ask, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" Why do we doubt? We need to trust Him, and know that He will see us through any storm.

No matter where you are at in life, it's not promised to be easy, but if you focus on the Savior and not the storm, it will draw you closer to Yeshua and make you stronger. Look to Yeshua- never look down, back, or from side to side- just look to the King.
So focus on the Savior- not the storm.

Starlight Animal Rescue ~ Book Review

Synopsis

Starlight Animal Rescue: Where problem horses are trained and loved, where abandoned dogs become heroes, where stray cats become loyal companions. And where people with nowhere to fit in find a place to belong.

Review

This is one of my favorite series by Dandi Daley Mackall. The story lines in these books are incredible! I loved how the animals helped the characters heal and how they also helped the characters know Who God is. In three out of the four books, the main characters come from rough backgrounds- a runaway foster teen, to a cancer patient. The animals always help to show God's love to these teens and kids. Although all of the books were great, my favorites were definitely Runaway and Dark Horse. The faith themes were beautifully written!

If you love redemption stories, horses, cats, or dogs, these books would be a great choice! :)

it's okay not to know

As an older high school teen, with graduation seeming right around the corner, many people have been asking me what I want to do with my life after high school. Questions such as this aren't bad, and they mean well.

However, when all you have to say in response is: "I don't know", it can be hard. It can be hard not knowing what you want to do with your life after high school, or after college, or wherever you're at in life.

It's okay not to know where you want to be in a few years, it's okay not to know what to do after high school. Yeshua will help you see what you should do when the time is right. So don't waste your time worrying. Trust Him. He's got this. :)

1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your worries on Him, for He cares for you."

The Journals of Callie McGregor ~ Book Review

Synopsis

Pioneer woman Callie McGregor and her family are determined to survive the Indian massacres, prairie wildfires, droughts, and blizzards of the Montana territory in the 1800s with their faith intact.

Review

This was a great series! My sisters and I have really enjoyed these! The journal form was different, but it was a fun change. The characters all had their own personalities- Stem and Jessie were my favorites. Their spunk, never-give-up attitudes, and determination, was awesome! Callie was also a great character. I loved how she stood up for those that were looked upon in society as being less important, or less valued. The pioneer setting and the adventures were so fun to read about!

Overall, these two books are great for anyone who loves adventure, funny family moments, and pioneer life!

Top Ten Songs Tag

Hello! Today I have an awesome tag for you all! I love music, and when I heard Kassie created a tag focusing just on music, I had to do it! ;) So excited for you all to read it! Thanks to Kassie for creating this tag!!!

Rules:

1. List your top ten songs in answer to the questions

2. Hyperlink the songs if at all possible

3. Tag as many people as you want

4. Feel free to use my graphic or one of your own.

5. Have fun!!!

Questions:

1. What's a soundtrack song you can't help but sing along to?
What's in the Bible? - Theme Song. This song is one I've heard for years, and can't help but sing along when my family and I listen to it again. I can imitate the voices of each puppet and my siblings are so entertained by my talent. ;)

2. What's a song you love from a genre you don't?
I'm not a fan of rap music, but occasionally there is a song or two that has rap in it that I really enjoy. Such as My Beloved by Cory Asbury.

3. What is a song that makes you cry, without a fail?
There really isn't a specific song that always makes me cry. Well, possibly Zion by Aaron Shust - this song is full of Scriptures about God bringing His people home. There is not often a time I listen to it without at least getting teary-eyed.

4. What would be your theme song?
Hmm... This question is hard! Right now, my theme song is Christ is Enough by Hillsong Worship. I first heard this song more than seven years ago, and have loved it ever since.

5. What's a song tied to a good memory?
When my family and I went to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum in Kentucky, (highly recommend both places!) while we were there we bought a few Buddy Davis CDs. We had bought one that had the song, I Don't Believe in Evolution by Buddy Davis. Before we knew it, my siblings and I were singing the song and using stuffed animals to act it out. ;)

6. If you're a writer, what song best sums up your main character? If you don't write...song for your favorite book's main character?
A story I wrote for my sister, had a main character who would best be summed up with this song: What Life Would Be Like by Big Daddy Weave. Mainly because it talks about letting Jesus live through us.

7. What's a song you always play on repeat?
Right now, the song I'm always playing on repeat is My Defender by Jeremy Camp.

8. What's the most convicting song you've ever heard?
I'm not sure if this is the most convicting song I've ever heard, but it's one of them: How Deep the Father's Love for Us by Selah. God gave up His one and only Son, for us. It shows His incredible love for us...

9. What song reminds you most of your childhood?
When I was little, probably around five, I loved this song. I enjoyed using twist ties and bowls and turned them into drums and jammed to this song: No One Like You by BarlowGirl. ;)

10. What's your favorite song?
What?! You're asking a musician what her favorite song is?! That's like asking an author which book they wrote is their favorite! ;) Anyways, my favorite song (right now) is Kadosh Ata by Joshua Aaron.

I tag: Brooklyne and Beth. Also, if you want to do the tag, go ahead and comment! :)
