Forgiveness

I think we all at one point in our lives, struggle to forgive. We struggle to let go of the pain and hurt people has inflicted on us. We often want to stay angry, and not forgive.
Do you know how ugly that can get? When we leave those wounds to fester in our souls, it slowly eats away at us, and it's painful, and unhealthy. We think it will hurt the other person, but really, staying in un-forgiveness only hurts us- and Yahweh.

Yahweh doesn't want us to sit in un-forgiveness. He wants us to give Him the pain, give Him the sorrow, give Him everything. He wants us to forgive, and to move on from the devastating experiences in our lives.

Does forgiveness mean we don't feel anymore? No way! To be fully healed, we need to forgive, and let Yahweh heal our hearts. And yet not close off our hearts to others, just because we are afraid we will be hurt again. I did this. After being hurt too many times by people, I chose to close off my heart to any new friendships and other relationships. It took me awhile, and I'm still figuring it out, but I can't blame everyone for the actions of a few people. I need to let go of the pain, and I need to forgive.

We can't forget to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes, too. Forgiving ourselves can be one of the hardest things to do. But in order to truly move forward, we need to forgive everyone- including ourselves. We all have made mistakes. We need to learn from those mistakes, let go, forgive, and move on.

Forgiveness is a process. Often it's a long, gruesome, and painful process. On our own we can't forgive. But with Yeshua's help, we can forgive. He gave His life, so that we could forgive and be forgiven.

So let it go. Ask Yeshua to help you to forgive. He will.

The Bible is full of verses on forgiveness. Here are just two, but don't forget to dig into His Word and discover for yourself! :)

"...bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." Colossians 3:13

"...and whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." Mark 11:25

Praying this post encourages you... <3 Seek Yeshua.

  1. The enemy of forgiveness is pride. People often don't forgive each other or ask for forgiveness because of pride. It is very important to forgive because God forgives us, if we don't, how do we expect to serve God the best we can? Thanks Molly Anne for the reminder!
